ELIGIBILITY

 

• You do not have to be a JAFTA member to apply but both members of project team must be Jamaican citizens OR JAFTA General members; and 18 years or older at the time of application. The selected project team, if they are not already JAFTA members, must be eligible for and obtain JAFTA General membership prior to participation in the lab.

• Applicants must not have previously benefitted from or participated in a similar international lab. Previous participants in the British Council/JAFTA/JAMPRO Feature Film Lab are not eligible, unless they are applying in a different capacity from the capacity in which they participated in the Feature Film Lab.

• Applicant project team must be willing to participate in the developmental impact of the initiative after completing the lab i.e. the project team must be willing to give a public or community  talk or session determined by JAFTA to share what they have learned.

APPLICATION MATERIALS

Mandatory:

 

• A project synopsis (1 page maximum) and a Treatment (10 pages maximum)

• Screenwriter’s or Writer-Director’s intention note (1 page maximum);

• Producer's Statement (1 page maximum)

• Project team’s CV containing contact information and photo for each (2 pages maximum);

• Font - Courier - 12 point

• The above mandatory application materials must be submitted as a single PDF document

Optional:

• Materials informing about the audio-visual approach: still pictures, video mood board, etc.

• A link (with password) to one previous short film or audio-visual work (30 minutes maximum)

Proof of Jamaican citizenship and age OR current JAFTA General Membership card; and optional materials to be submitted as separate files in the same email.

Note: The aim of the initiative is to provide access and training to an applicant team who would not have already benefited from similar training, development and/or access through some other initiative or opportunity; and that will be taken into account.
